I came to College Counseling through my years of teaching history – I love a good story, and I love working with young adults. Helping students share their stories and get set on the path towards their futures is my passion. I am also a person who understands personal challenges and finding inner resilience and resources, through the help of others, to make dreams happen. My own journey through learning differences meant I had to work very hard, but with effort and a good support system, much is possible. I am one who wants to help students find their voice, see a clearer path for themselves, and take the steps they need in order to discover who their best selves can be.
I was born and raised in New York City and finished my undergraduate education there after boarding school and some time in Ohio. After college, I lived in Italy for three years, where I became fluent in Italian and met my future husband. Thinking I wanted a career as a history professor, I began a PhD program outside Boston, but soon realized that what I really wanted to do was work with teenagers – to be the person who could distract them with the story of history while they slogged through the tough years of being a person in constant flux. With my Masters in hand I began teaching in Miami, FL. After seven years and the birth of my two children, we moved to Woodstock, CT and enjoyed 10 years of an immersive boarding school life. It was here that I began exploring College Counseling and became Director of the department. In 2011 the opportunity to move overseas to Switzerland was too good to pass up and I taught and developed a College Counseling program at an international boarding school for 14 years. In 2025, I retired from full-time school counseling and now I live in Italy. I enjoy my new role working with the curious and talented students who want to explore their options in higher education, whether in the US or internationally.
